Luss

Luss is an attractive conservation village which lies on the western shore of Loch Lomond, which is the largest freshwater loch in Scotland.

It is less than a hour's drive on the A82 from Glasgow, and is a popular day trip from the Central belt.  It is the setting for Scottish Television's High Road programme,  and as such, attracts fans from far afield.  Luss does not need to rely on this connection, however, as it is well known and liked for its beautifully  kept conservation village  status, and the marvelous views over Loch Lomond.

The village used to lie on the main A82 trunk rood, but the recent major  improvements between Dumbarton and Tarbet have resulted in Luss being even more appealing as the through traffic is kept away.
The Thistle Bagpipe Works, which can be found on the A82 just outside the village, (see photo right) is well worth a visit.

The photograph on the left shows Stewart Harris who manufactures bagpipes and tailors Highland Dress, including kilts, jackets and sporrans.  Thistle Bagpipe Works also have a wide range of Scottish Souvenirs.
